Anibene expands operations in Asia
Singapore-based Anibene, a premium pet supplies distributor of European products in Asia, is expanding its reach with a foray into the Philippines and Vietnam. The two-year-old company is already in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Speaking at the PreConnect 2 by Pet Fair SEA virtual conference, Anibene founder and managing director Matthias Koch said the company aims to sell over ten European brands, including house brand Dr.K, to these Southeast Asian markets.
"We looked at leading retailers in Vietnam to see where we can distribute the brands we work with," said Matthias Koch. He noted that the country of 100 million people has a fragmented market, with the top chain having fewer than 30 outlets.
In the Philippines, which has a population of 110 mio, Anibene partnered with Bow & Wow, an all-natural pet store chain with seven mall-based branches mostly in the capital region.
"We are currently also looking for further partnerships in Asia," an official said.
